GRE: Graduate record Examination
- GRE is required by all students wanting to pursue their MS program in the US, even students who wish to pursue arts and social sciences also need to take the GRE.
- It is a computer-based test and is administered throughout the year.
- It tests the student on Verbal ability and Quantitative ability, which is English and Math.
- The sections together are scored out of 340 (170 each). The minimum required score is 300.
- Apart from this the GRE has also got a writing section where the student has to write two essays. This is known as the Analytical Writing Assessment.
- This section is scored separately on a scale of 0-6. The students are required to get at least 3.5 in this section. The essays must be typed only.
